The Magician

After fleeing Ojai, Nicholas, Sophie, Josh, and Scatty emerge in Paris, the City of Lights. Home for Nicholas Flamel. Only this homecoming is anything but sweet. Perenell is still locked up back in Alcatraz and Paris is teeming with enemies. Nicollo Machiavelli, immortal author and celebrated art collector, is working for Dee. He's after them, and time is running out for Nicholas and Perenell. For every day spent without the Book of Abraham the Mage, they age one year--their magic becoming weaker and their bodies more frail. For Flamel, the Prophesy is becoming more and more clear.

It's time for Sophie to learn the second elemental magic: Fire Magic. And there's only one man who can teach it to her: Flamel's old student, the Comte de Saint-Germain--alchemist, magician, and rock star. Josh and Sophie Newman are the world's only hope--if they don't turn on each other first.

The Alchemyst

He holds the secret that can end the world.

The truth: Nicholas Flamel was born in Paris on September 28, 1330. Nearly 700 years later, he is acknowledged as the greatest Alchemyst of his day. It is said that he discovered the secret of eternal life.

The records show that he died in 1418.

But his tomb is empty.

The legend: Nicholas Flamel lives. But only because he has been making the elixir of life for centuries. The secret of eternal life is hidden within the book he protects--the Book of Abraham the Mage. It's the most powerful book that has ever existed. In the wrong hands, it will destroy the world. That's exactly what Dr. John Dee plans to do when he steals it. Humankind won't know what's happening until it's too late. And if the prophecy is right, Sophie and Josh Newman are the only ones with the power to save the world as we know it.

Sometimes legends are true.

And Sophie and Josh Newman are about to find themselves in the middle of the greatest legend of all time.

This Lullaby

"I meant what I said to you. I wasn't playing some kind of summer game. Everything I said was true, from the first day. EVERY GODDAMN WORD"

Having a mother who had been married to five different husbands and who had broken her heart to five different divorces, Remy did not quite understand the concept of Love. She does not believe in being inlove and doesn't take relationships to last forever. She treats all her relationships with her boyfriends as something temporary, and she only engage herself in summer romances. until that day came, when Dexter found her.

Dexter, on the other hand was someone who keeps a positive attitude and who somehow believes that things will eventually work out fine. a happy-go-lucky guy who is always on the go for challenges.

Remy found love with Dexter, she started to change, and all her friends noticed it, yet, she was still denying it to herself, knowing that what's with her and Dexter is only temporary like the other relationships she had. She broke up with him. they tried to be friends, as Dexter suggested, yet both of them still felt the pain of leaving the other behind. Swallowing pride, and accepting that Love was on its way to her, Remy forgot all her pains when her father left her with "This Lullaby" that made her not believe in Love, and ran towards the man she fell in love with. not the ideal man she was looking, but the man who touch her very and heart and soul--Dexter.

The Truth about Forever

"But there was only one truth about forever that really mattered, and that was this: it was happening. Right then, as I ran with Wes into that bright sun, and every moment afterwards. Look, there. Now. Now. Now."

After her father died and her "Mr. Perfect" Boyfriend decided to broke up with her because she told her she loved him,  Macy Queen felt she had no life at all. As if everything was falling apart, and there is no way she can escape the loneliness she felt.

Macy Queen always thought that being perfect is her goal in life. that when she reach perfectness and everything was in her "control", she'll be forever happy. but everything changed when she met West--he only person she knew who faced grief and despair from her mother's death instantly, being strong for his brother. they both worked for the catering services, and there they both found the meaning of forever.  that it is not something you long for. it is something that suddenly happens, something you're not expecting, it is the very least of all your concerns. being with the things she wasn't accustomed to, friends she never thought of having, that defined her forever.

this story tells the readers,  that forever may happen  when you least expect it. that forever will come if you allow it to, and there and then, when forever happens, the feeling of not ending it will come. <3

Beastly

"...if there´s a beast, maybe he´s just a regular guy with a sin condition or something. Maybe he just needs some understanding. Maybe we judge people to much by their looks because it´s easier than seeing what´s really important."

A modern beauty and the beast story-- a guy charmed by a witch to full ugliness, and only true love can set the curse free. and a girl who sees beyond the beast's ugliness and falls in love with him no matter what he looks like. magical perse, the two of them falls for one other and the charm is broken, and they live happily ever after.

Typical, yet fascinating, as the author perfectly draws the "old beauty and the beast" story to a new one. the author even started the story with an online chat room, where all the beasts cursed by withches in the old fairy tales comes alive chatting with one another with their stories and happy endings--how they met their princes and princesses, and how their curses were broken.

This story reminded me alot of those fairy tales i loved to watch when i was a kid, of how endings are always seem to be happy. it also made me realized how different my world was than the world i am living today. there a changes in the stories, and somehow though, the lessons are still the same.

Lock and Key

"What is family? They were the people who claimed you. In good, in bad, in parts or in whole, they were the ones who showed up, who stayed in there, regardless. It wasn't just about blood relations or shared chromosomes, but something wider, bigger."

This is a story of a teenage girl who was left alone by her mother before she turned eighteen and had her sister, ten years older than her and spent ten years away from her, took her custody. Reluctant at first, Ruby started to realized what family meant to her even when her mom left her alone, and even when she had no idea why her sister left her to finish school and never came back for her.
She never felt what it is to be inside a home. to have a family she can call her own and to at least be dependent to someone knowing that someone would not try to leave her.

Ruby, found the keys to the locks she left unopened for a while before she knew her sister Cora and her husband Jamie. it took her for a while to let them help her search for the keys. she thought leaving them was easy, but everything after leaving was hard. she needed help, but she won't admit to herself. until she met Nate.

Will both of them allow themselves to help each other? will they see the meaning behind family ties? will they somehow reach the point of taking each others arms and hold them tight?

This is a story of family. these are just the things we have no choice of, and the only thing we need to do is to accept them and be thankful, that somehow they contribute to what we are right now.

It's not the end of the world

"Absence makes the heart grow fonder"

have you tried putting things back together? well, for Karen Newman this might be a very difficult task, now that both her parents decided to divorce. karen, being the middle child, is being trapped between the belief that her parents might long for each other when they grow apart. she struggles to the reality of accepting how it is to have a broken family and how it is to fix everything that is broken.
will she ever get to accept her parents' decision? or will she leave things broken as they were to avoid pain?

this is a story of broken relationships and how it is to mend them just by mere acceptance:)
