Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes

Desire is not always lessened by disgust. Nor can it be bestowed, like a favor, to those most deserving of it. And as my words bind my magic, so you can know the truth. If she doesn’t desire his kiss, she won’t be free.

how in the world can you desire to love your brother as your heart's pair? how can that filial love be transformed into eros?

this is the dilemma Clary and Jace gets into in the second book. they came to know they are relatives, son and daughter of Valentine, and yet they still long for each other's love, the love that is forbidden.

this book tells a story of how to overcome desire, and how one cannot hide what is true to their feelings. what will Clary and Jace do? how can their powers help them, now that they also came to know that the antagonist they're after is their own father---Valentine.

this is my favorite book so far in the series, not only did it taught me how to fight desires, but also it taught me that how much hiding i go into, true feelings will always emancipate within me, and there's really to it, even escape there is none.
